December 14, 2023Jay’s remarkable journey with Hamra Enterprises began in 2002 as an Assistant Manager in McHenry, Illinois. Over the course of more than two decades, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational expertise, advancing through increasingly responsible roles within the Chicagoland market. His comprehensive experience includes serving as General Manager at multiple locations—Geneva, St. Charles, and Algonquin—before advancing to Bakery Market Manager for Chicago Southeast in 2009, overseeing operations in Frankfort, Plainfield, Naperville, Joliet, Bolingbrook, and Caton Farm.
Jay’s continued excellence led to his promotion to Regional Bakery Market Manager for Chicago Bread in 2011, followed by his appointment as Director of Baking for all Hamra Panera markets in 2022. Most recently, he served as Area Director for the north half of Chicago Bread in 2024 before stepping into his current role as Regional Director of Operations in 2025.
A lifelong Illinois resident, Jay grew up in Hoffman Estates and has called Cary home since 2006. Outside of his professional achievements, he is an avid sports enthusiast, cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs with unwavering loyalty. Jay finds balance through outdoor adventures, particularly enjoying hiking, kayaking, and camping with his family, as he embraces the natural beauty that surrounds the Chicagoland area.
Drawing from his extensive career experience, Jay shares a pivotal lesson learned early on: “Never pass up a coachable moment.” This philosophy has guided his approach to leadership and continuous improvement throughout his tenure with Hamra Enterprises.
