We want to crown our own Chicago Bread Top Recipe Rallyer!
WHO
All active Retail Team Members, Shift Leads and Shift Supervisors are eligible to participate. Recipe Rally excludes managers, bakers and above café employees. Retail Team Members may participate in both the Chicago Bread Recipe Rally as well as the national Panera Bread Food Hackathon. Retail Team Members are limited to one recipe entry for the Recipe Rally competition. Participation will be limited to individuals only, no teams.
WHAT
An internal Chicago Bread culinary challenge competition to award the most creative, unique and original CB recipe. Based on the Chicago Bread culinary panel, any recipes suspected to be copied from a third-party resource will be disqualified.
WHERE
A fun competition for just Chicago Bread Retail Team Members, to be judged by a Chicago Bread culinary panel.
WHEN
Recipe submissions 5/3-5/31, District winners announced by 6/14 and Overall Recipe Rally winner announced by 7/5.
WHY
To create fun and energy showcasing our passion for craveable food that is truly familiar made fantastic and to highlight our retail team member’s creativity—the Panera Way!
HOW
Submissions will be made through the Digital Manager Handbook consisting of list of ingredients, recipe directions and photograph of completed recipe.
Following the conclusion of the submission period, the Chicago Bread culinary panel will judge each entry on the below criteria:
- Recipes should, as much as possible, utilize Panera Pantry ingredients
- Recipes may also include your favorite ingredients from your own pantry
- Recipes will be evaluated on the basis of their embodiment of Panera’s Culinary
Principles:
- Familiar Made Fantastic—adapting a very familiar, broadly appealing product with a unique and ownable ingredient twist
- Other Culinary Principles
- Inspired by the Seasons [ex. Utilizing fresh and seasonal ingredients where relevant]
- Bread as our Superpower [highlighting our equity in bread anywhere as appropriate, example—incorporating croutons in salads]
- Freshly prepared made to order [ex. Recipes that can be prepared to order and can be customized]
After District Winners are announced, each winning district recipe will be prepared for Chicago Bread culinary panel upon which an overall Recipe Rally winner will be announced. This final round will be held at a TBD date/location between 6/15 and 7/4.
PRIZES
- District Winners to receive $100 cash/gift card
- Overall Winner to receive $250 cash/gift card, Hamra swag, their recipe presented as the Bread Homage at the upcoming 2023 GM meeting.
